After several months of planning, I’m excited to launch a brand-new section of my website about running a side business!

Between the ever-increasing popularity of sites like Etsy and Pinterest, we are seeing more and more people starting a part-time business in addition to their full-time responsibilities. That business may just be a small hobby you occasionally charge for, or it may be something that develops into a full-time business with team members!

But this trend of people turning their passions and hobbies into additional income is happening at a mind-blowing pace! And regardless of where you are in the process, this new section is just for you.

Most of us don’t start a side business because we love business. We love our craft or skill or idea—the business part is just a necessary way to share that passion with others and make an income in the process.

That means the business side of things can become overwhelming, frustrating and exhausting. Often the business part can even distract us from our passions and drain all our energy and efforts.

I say “us” because I’ve been there too. I’ve had two different side businesses in my career (in addition to my full-time job). So I know the struggles firsthand. That’s why my goal for this section of the website is to be able to help you with your specific challenges along the way.

I’ll feature articles answering some of the most common questions I hear, like:

“How do I promote my product without being pushy?”

“What’s the best way to stand out among the competition?”

“How do I charge for my time?”

“Which social media platforms should I use?”

And of course, “What about taxes?”

I want to build a community here where you can learn and encourage each other while also being inspired. I’ll also be interviewing and featuring the stories of other successful side businesses owners.

And I need your help!

So let me know if you have specific side-business questions, or if you know of a side-business owner who should be featured. You can get in touch with me through my contact form page here.

You can also download my Project: Business Quick-Start Guide to help you launch or grow your own side project. This checklist will remind you to cover your bases and make sure you’re building a solid plan for your business.

Pursing your passion is incredibly rewarding, but business can be too—if you get the right help along the way. I’m excited you’re here and looking forward to taking this journey with you!

Christy, I am thrilled that I ran across your new website. God has put a business idea and desire in my heart for over two years now, but I have no mentor to go to with my idea and unsure how to get this business idea started. I look forward to learning more from you through your blog and hopefully help me get this business started to really see where God wants me to be! God bless you and all your success!

Why is the quick start guide link missing? Here and at several other websites the link says “download the quick start guide here” but when you click it it goes to a page that doesn’t work OR it goes to the sign up page for Business Boutique–but it’s not a download either way. What am I missing?
