Ep 16: Recognizing Your Gifts

March 07, 2017 - 01:02:00

You have been created with unique and special gifts specifically for you. But sometimes it’s hard to recognize those gifts. That’s why I want to spend this podcast episode teaching you how to recognize your unique gifts! So I’ll talk about the difference between gifts, passions and strengths, and how to identify the unlikely things that may actually be gifts in your life.

My friend and Business Boutique event host Annie F. Downs will share how she realized her unique gifts of entertaining, speaking, and writing—and how she uses them today.

Plus, we’ll hear from Karmen Smith, owner of Pray Big—a company that makes prayer journals. Karmen’s business came out of a very trying time for her, and she’ll share her inspiring story of how her gifts intersected with her desire to help people in their walk with God.

And I’ll answer your biggest business questions!

I completely understand Annie’s story! With over 50 rejections from publishers,
I self published eight years ago when it was taboo. I was shunned by fellow writers, but like Annie, I’d built a blog and following. I did out of the box marketing and not only have over 45 novels, made the USA Today bestseller list twice, I’m now a hybrid author with three traditional publishers and still self publishing. I’ve followed my dream and my gifts God has given me, which I believe is helping women escape their daily life for just a few minutes a day by reading one of my books. My story is about how I discovered reading from depression I’d been in from a divorce. My reading lead me to writing (even though I was a child therapist with my day job) and so many readers have written me to let me know how much I’ve taken them out of their daily grind to make them laugh and solve a fun mystery in the process. This lead me to being key note speaker at reader conferences and writer conferences. I’ve ordered your book and so excited to get that. I think we should always grow.
I found you through Dave Ramsey bc I’m always looking for ways to better my business. We love the WILDCATS too! I’m a grad and one of my four boys is a student there now! Go Cats!!

I love this explanation for what a gift is especially because it was not obvious to me. It is relieving to know that those situations that you feel your alone in and no one around you struggle with is actually a gift. When you overcome that struggle you will help and find other people who were also in that situations. I think that explanation of gift deserves a poster!

Thank you for the podcast! My question is how do I find my passion and how I can make money and follow God? I am a hard worker with a business background but I dont know where to begin with my life passion.
